About Us
MOSA is a small select group of Italian greyhounds that are raised and live in our home. We are NOT a kennel and we do not strive to ever be a kennel. Our goal is to raise Italian Greyhounds that are not only healthy in body but in mind and spirit also, at the same time true to the IG standard. We strive to produce IG's that are not only sound in health but that have very outgoing and social personalities that will make them easily a part of the family.
"MOSA IG's stand out not only because of thier beauty but also thier personalities. Forget the notion that IG's are a timind breed this is not the case with a MOSA IG. "
When you get a MOSA puppy you can rest assured it will be a happy, outgoing puppy, one well prepared for family life. You also become part of our extended family so you can have peace of mind knowing we are here for you even after your puppy arrives home and throughout it's life.
The beginning of MOSA
Our philosophy was born out of our love for animals and our work that originally began with Rescues. Believing that animals are innocent and depend upon us for everything. We wanted and contine to want to make a difference in the lives of animals.
We believe that if you are going to have animal companions they should be loved and well cared for and be a part of your family. They are not disposable property. They are living beings, that have feelings and deserve to be treated as such.
Our belief is simply:
"Every animal deserves respect, dignity, to be protected and to love and have a family that loves them back."
The MOSA name was created as a tribute and memory for 3 of our dogs. Each letter of MOSA is from the name of those, 2 of which are no longer with us.
MO is from one of my dogs that was a rescue. Her name was Muffin but we called her MO. I got her when she was a puppy, she traveled all over Europe and the States with me. We lost her at 16 yrs of age after a long happy life.

S, came for our beautiful Rottwieler named Simone. I got her while in Europe and brought her back with me. More menacing was here size than temperment. She was one of the most loving and devoted Rotties you could ever meet. We lost her at 13 yrs old.

Both girls were awesome companions and loves of my life. They will be missed always and never forgotten. They touched my life in a way that will last forever.
A, is from our crazy Ashley who is still with us. She was a rescue that we saved. One year the day before Thanksgiving we picked her up from an animal shelter, she was scheduled to loose her life the day after Thanksgiving. That year gave us a lot to be thankful for.. As crazy and spirited as she has always been she has been a great girl.

That is how the name MOSA was created.. It also is a very beautiful flower which is a very befitting tribute to my girls!
I was introduced to IGs while living in Europe, Ironically, and fell in love wih the breed. Being a very Aritistic person thier beauty to me was an art to be admired.
While I continued to admire and learn about the breed, due to my constant traveling and my already having a companion, it was not until I was living back in the US that we adopted our first IG and that is where MOSA began..
So as you can see our dogs make up a big part of our family and life.
Below is an exerpt from a poem by "Aleksandra Lachut " that describes those in our life.
"Some are brought into our life for a reason, some for a season, others for a lifetime."
I feel that if you truly love your animal companions and allow them to, they can teach us many things forgivness, unconditional love, loyalty, strength, wisdom, and how to truly enjoy life and how precious it truly is.
Our dogs have taught me so much, given me so much, asking for so little in return and they have left changes in me that will be with me the rest of my life. To this day even the ones that have passed continue to give to me and touch my life when least expected.
We are a family that loves animals and put that love into each and every puppy/dog that live with us. Wether it is to be a permanent member of our family, living with us or it is to live with our extended family in thier forever home, the same attention and love goes into each and every one that we raise.
This is not a bussiness, for us it is more a professional self-sustaining hobby and a passion for the breed. We put the adoption fees back into our dogs in their care, spoiling, and expenses to show them, as well the dogs we rescue.
Both my husband and I were raised with animals all of our lives, so it is only natural that they are a part of our life and family still to this day.. Working with animals is something that we were raised doing and enjoy.
My grandparents had a working farm with many animals and I was there often helping and playing with the animals. I also had my own little "jungle as my mother so named my bedroom because it was always full of every animal and plant imaginable that I could have in the house, ferrets, birds, fish, hamsters, and more. If it could be had I did and my parents were always great about allowing my love and passion to grow. We also had our dogs. My first best friend that I had was a beautiful snow white German Shepard named Spook and we always kept dogs in our home since.
I also began to rescue animals at a very young age. It was not uncommon for me to find baby birds that were abandon or had fallen from thier nest. or baby squirrels, chipmunks and other animals that needed help. I would bring them home and nurse them to adulthood. I also worked with ferrel kittens capturing them, taming them and then finding them homes. My home was never a boring one.
My husband's grandparents also raised and showed both Yorkies and hunting dogs. He lived with them much of the time so he also grew up with dogs all of his life and this allowed him to gain vast experience with the husbandry of raising and showing dogs. His grandmother's love of Yorkie's is where he picked up most of his knowledge with the toy breeds.
We not only breed but we educate ourselves on this breed on a continual basis. This allows us to produce healthy puppies but also to stay updated on advances in Veterinarian medicine which has been advancing almost as quickly as Human medicine. In turn we can pass all of our knowledge onto our families to help them with thier companions.
We have met many wonderful people through our IG's both in the IG community and in other areas of the dog world. We also read and research continually. Both have given us invaluable resources in our journey with our IG's.
Our deep love of animals, dogs in particular and my love of the Italian Greyhound is where MOSA began. For us the IG's are a part of our family and ours are very spoiled.
Our dogs really do live in our home and have more than a lot of children. We are NOT a kennel and do not aspire to be one. We do NOT produce many litters each year, we only produce 3-4 a year, which are very well thought out in advance.
We take the placement of our IG's, our cmmitment to them and our families very seriously.
We strive to produce healthy happy, well rounded IGs that are excellent family companions. We also want to ensure the continuation of this breed and make contributions of quality to better IG's in the future.
We welcome your inquireries wether it be general questions or to check on a puppy you may like.
Thank you for taking the time to view our site and to read about us and our family.
God Bless and we look forward to hearing from you!
